Be it shawl or sal wood, its medicinal properties are innumerable. Shaal is a tree with soft bark. Shawl has white and red flowers. The seeds, seed oil, stem bark, leaves, flowers and Kandsar are used as treatment for many diseases in Ayurveda. But for which diseases shawl is beneficial, let us know about it further.
What is Salem?
There is a description of shawl in Charaksamhita. It is a very large, deciduous tree up to 18-30 meters high. Its wood is used to build houses. A type of transparent and clean extract is obtained from this plant which is called resin. Shawl is cool, dry in nature, reduces phlegm and bile, heals stagnant ulcers or wounds, relieves pain, is beneficial in vaginal diseases and helps in reducing obesity. It reduces the effects of vaginal diseases, throat related diseases, ulcers or wounds, burning sensation and poison. It helps prevent diarrhea or diarrhea. It is beneficial in skin related diseases, blood related diseases, leprosy, swelling, ulcer or wound, Vidradhi Dadru Raktarsh (bloody piles), Pandu or anemia, cough, respiratory related, Kandu or itching, worms and vaginal diseases. A study shows that it is beneficial in leucorrhoea or leucorrhoea. In 52 women aged 18-50 years, it was used in the form of resin powder in the amount of 1 gram twice a day and the vagina was washed with the decoction of its bark. 50 percent success was achieved on the 10th day, 80 percent on the 20th day and 100 percent success was achieved after 30 days.
