What is Dronapushpi?
The flowers of Dronapushpi are like Drona (dona or cup), hence it is called Dronapushpi. The plant of Dronpushpeep is 60-90 cm high, straight or spreading. Its stem and its branches are quadrangular, hairy. Its leaves are straight, 3.8-7.5 cm long, elliptic or elliptic-lanceolate. Its leaves have an odor and are bitter in taste. Its flowers are small, white in colour. Its fruits are 3 mm long, elliptical, brown in color and smooth. Its seeds are small, smooth, brown in colour. Its root is white in color and bitter in taste. Its plant flowers and fruits from August to December. It has many species. (Dronakpushpi) (Kshudra Dronapushpi)- This plant is 50-60 cm high, and is going to live for one year. Its stems are quadrangular. Its leaves are linear, lanceolate, and hairy. White colored flowers come in bunches on the upper part of its branches. Its fruits are oblong, triangular and circular. It is used in the treatment of loss of appetite, flatulence, pain, loss of appetite due to typhoid, fever, and diseases of the stomach.
